Pinghe Liou

Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac.)  ·  Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl.OM)  ·  NCCAOM Board Certified

Pinghe Liou is a Licensed Acupuncturist and NCCAOM Board Certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine practicing at Angel Holistic Acupuncture in Fairfax, Virginia. A graduate of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, one of China's most respected TCM institutions, she brings over 20 years of clinical experience treating patients across three continents.

Born into a family with a traditional Chinese medicine background, Liou developed a deep commitment to TCM early in life. At Chengdu University she studied directly under celebrated physicians including Dr. Benshu Diao and renowned gynecologist Dr. Yuqing Lai, a depth of classical training rarely available to Western-trained practitioners.

Following graduation, Liou joined Chengdu Seventh People's Hospital before opening her own private clinic in China, where she practiced independently for 14 years. After relocating to the United States, she earned NCCAOM Board Certification, the gold standard credential in acupuncture and Oriental medicine in the U.S., and became a fully licensed acupuncture physician in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Liou's clinical approach centers on individualized treatment rather than protocol-driven care. Every patient receives a TCM evaluation, including tongue diagnosis, pulse assessment, and detailed intake history, that informs a treatment plan specific to that individual's constitution, history, and health goals.

Treatment Philosophy

Individualized care rooted in over 2,000 years of clinical tradition

At Angel Holistic Acupuncture, lasting health is achieved by restoring the body's innate capacity to regulate itself — not by suppressing symptoms. Traditional Chinese Medicine views the body as an integrated whole: physical, emotional, and environmental factors all contribute to patterns of imbalance that, when addressed at their root, resolve conditions that resist conventional treatment alone.

Every patient receives a thorough intake before treatment begins. Pulse diagnosis, tongue examination, and a detailed health history allow us to identify the underlying pattern driving symptoms and build a treatment plan tailored to your specific constitution, not a generic protocol.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used for over 2,000 years to treat pain, restore hormonal balance, support digestion, calm the nervous system, and improve overall vitality. Liou's goal is to help each patient restore their body's natural healing capacity through treatments that are safe, effective, and respectful of each person's whole health picture.
